Tonight saw the launch of the Clandestine Cake Club in Manchester. For those who don’t know, the Clandestine Cake Club is a cake club founded by Lynn Hill from The Secret Tea Room, where members are asked to bake their own cake at home and bring it along to a planned Secret Location. When all the members arrive, they get to meet other baking enthusiasts/cake lovers and well, eat cake! The theme for today’s meeting was Fourth July/America. Bakers came from all over Manchester came to show off their creations.

The gorgeous American themed cakes were laid out on the centre table of the beautiful Cake Gallery in Bowden, Altrincham. There was so much variety. A Stars and Stripes cake, Angel cake, New York cheesecake, Mississippi Mud Cake, Bundt Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake, Star Spangled Fruit Tart, Oreo Cake…you name it, it was there! My contribution was a Star Spangled Fruit Tart (pictured above) which I used to eat every 4th July when I used to live in America . It was clear everyone had gone to a lot of effort as all the cakes looked and tasted so good! Check out the photos below to see how the event went..

I had a fantastic time this evening. I ate far too much cake and then even got the chance to take a little doggy bag home. I think I’m still on a little bit of a sugar high to be honest but it was most definitely worth it and I’m already looking forward to the next one! Big thanks to Gwyenth from Vintage Afternoon Teas for arranging it!
