It’s been a year since The Spice Club launched with just 8 guests. Now, a year on, we celebrated our first birthday with our biggest ever supper club- hosting 30 guests! What a year it’s been, with events exploring everything from south Indian cuisine to Bombay street food and with wonderful coverage including BBC TV & radio, Company Magazine & Manchester Evening News.
The menu on the night of our birthday supper club featured a mix of some of our guest’s favourite dishes from the year together with a special desert made just for the event (the ‘secret’ menu was leaked over twitter by our Maitre’D @ajsawhney). Some feedback from the night includes:
“Simply the best Indian food we’ve ever tasted….” Mike & Christine
“The food was out of this world, could never find restaurant food to the same standard..” Katie
“Another great evening-lovely food and great company!” Cath
Some photos from the evening:
Our starter, Gol Gappa Chaat-a traditional Indian street snack!
Spice Club’s signature dish, Kashmiri Lamb Masala
Spice Club birthday cake! (Ma and I’s baking project)
Dessert-Home made kiwi sorbet layered with creamy yoghurt & mango sorbet
Over the year, we have fed over 200 people, many of who (in true supper club style) arrived as strangers and left as friends. Our guests donation’s have also raised over £600 for our charity Narayan Seva- who are doing fantastic work in India. I really would like to say a big big thank you to all of our lovely guests-without all of you we wouldn’t be here today. Also a HUGE thank you to my family, and my amazing Mum (who even though initially didn’t give permission for me to invite total strangers into our living room for dinner) is now most supportive and is my mentor and partner in the kitchen. Here’s to another year…!
